About Us
History
With over seven decades of experience in manufacturing valves, KTM has gained worldwide recognition as a premium brand for industry ball valves. Starting from a small workshop, KTM has constantly strived to make its mark in world markets through its specialty - technological development. Since pioneering the development of ball valves in Japan, KTM has accumulated invaluable experience and the capacity to meet every type of user demand which is reflected in our various R&D successes.
- 1932 Kitamura Trading Corporation established in Tokyo
- 1948 Diaphragm valves developed and marketed
- 1958 Production of ball valves started
- 1964 Urawa Manufacturing Plant opened
- 1965 Control valves (V-port valves) developed and marketed
- 1970 Started sales of ball valves in the US by own subsidiary
- 1973 OM ball valves developed and marketed- becoming the de facto industry benchmark
- 1981 Gratite® seated ball valves patented
- 1993 Metal Seat ball valves developed and marketed
- 2000 KTM joined Tyco International
- 2005 Developed partial stroke testing applications with SIL 3 approval
